Grinding it Out

Not much happening back here at Kramer HQ.

Emily Fish came this past weekend - we had a good time! Stayed in on Friday, watched City of God and I, Robot, both excellent flicks (and City of God is one of the best movies I've seen ever). On Saturday, we went to Chicago for a day and shopped. Crazy, but it's true - I went shopping. However, this time, I went shopping with a budget and a person who knew what she was about. I came out of this not only alive, but with a beautiful shirt, a pair of "modern" jeans, a nice pair of slacks, and a stylish pair of cool-as-hell sneakers/dress shoe combos.

Em also bought me the "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" book, as she said I was hopeless. =P

It's strange how culture and customs fight each other - why is it that only girls get manicures? Is it odd to think about and worry (kinda) about what clothes you're wearing, what you eat, and what haircair products you own? I've always thought that metrosexual guys were effeminate, yet I always admired the things they wrought for their trouble. Maybe it's time I tried some of their tricks out.

Past that, I am finally officially graduated - I received a letter last week saying I was graduated as of December 2004, and my diploma would be arriving in about 2 months. Seems I can dust off that empty frame hiding in the closet.

I've been pulling boxes out of storage and tearing through them. Everytime I toss something useless that evokes a memory, it is like throwing away a little piece of myself. Why am I so attached? Is this strange? An old Popular Science from 1998 is not worth anything to anyone. Except my memories.

A few other recommendations:
The Flogging Molly's newest album Within a Mile of Home is excellent - their combination of hard driving Irish music mixed with punk is a heady brew. I definitely recommend the pirate-themed "Seven Deadly Sins".

OldBoy is a Korean revenge film. It is one of my new favorite films, as well as being the absolute best revenge film I have EVER seen. Intricately plotted, deep enough to surprise me at the end, and full of savage emotion, this is a winner. Subtitles only, but they're redoing it for America (and quite possibly toning it down/cutting the balls off of it).

Wow, that was a long post Bloggites. I've been at this for years now, and I'm not exactly sure how other "majors" do it. Do all they do is blog and read OTHER blogs? OTHER websites? What a strange hobby... consuming "news" so you can post about it - even if the news is wrong or emotionally charged. Hrmph.

I feel: =) A'Ok Charlie!
